If you are considering a career in the semiconductor industry, there is good news. Now is the time to make your move. Not only is the industry booming, the demand for technical people across all skill levels is at an all-time high.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to the question “Am I qualified?”  Qualifications for jobs in the semiconductor industry vary by field and position. A large portion of the available semiconductor jobs are slated for engineers, technicians, and managers.  To be a semiconductor engineer, you will need a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, software engineering, physics, or related degrees. However, to start a career as a manufacturing technician, equipment technician, field service technician or other similar positions you need an associate degree and, in some cases, a high school degree may be the only requirement.

In 2021, more than 34,000 jobs remained unfilled within the manufacturing segment of the semiconductor industry according to SEMI, an industry trade association. However, there are three things you can do to increase your chances of landing a job.
